We Rebuilt sugar4.me

sugar4.me has been rebuilt. Not restyled — rebuilt: a new front end, a new photo review, a new notification system, and a handful of things members had been asking for that the old site simply could not do. Here is what is different, and why each change was worth making.
You can start the conversation now
The old site gave you one way to reach someone: wait for them to write first. That is a bad deal for whoever is waiting, and on a site like this almost everybody is waiting.
There are now three requests you can send, and all three are free. Ask someone to open the chat, ask them a single question, or ask them to verify themselves. Each one is a small, specific thing to say yes to — which is why they get answered far more often than an empty chat window does.
Profiles open over the list, not instead of it
Opening a profile used to lose your place. It now opens over the list: close it and you are exactly where you were. Looking through a hundred members is one continuous act again instead of a hundred round trips. You can try it without an account in the member directory.
Photos are reviewed in minutes, not days
Every photo is still checked before it appears — that has not changed and will not. What changed is who does the first pass. An automatic review now runs around the clock and answers within minutes, instead of leaving a new member's first photo in a queue over a weekend. Anything it is not sure about still goes to a person.
Your profile and the screen that edits it are the same screen
They used to be two, which meant you could never quite see what you were changing. It is one screen now, with a checklist of what is still missing — because an incomplete profile is the most common reason a member gets no replies. If you want the longer version of what makes a profile work, the sugar baby guide covers it.
Stories
A profile is a standing description of a person. A story is a moment, and it is gone again after a day. It is the low-effort way to show that you are actually here — which on a dating site matters more than almost any other signal.
Notifications work again
This part is an apology. For months, notifications were not being delivered. The sending quota with the provider we used had been exhausted, and the refusals were being discarded instead of recorded, so nobody noticed. If you were a member during that time, you were not told when someone wrote to you. That was our fault, not yours and not theirs.
Notifications now run on the browser's own standard, with no provider in between, and every send is written down — which is the part that actually prevents this from happening again. You can turn them on, and off, under Notifications in your account settings.
What did not change
Profiles, credits, chats and photos are the same accounts and the same data; nothing was reset. Browsing is still free and still needs no account. You only spend credits when you open a chat, and the price is shown before you confirm — the full list of what costs what is on the tour.
Safety and discretion are unchanged too, and the advice has not moved: keep conversations on the platform until you are comfortable, and read is sugar dating safe before you arrange anything offline.
